About the ALARM-D201P10-WE
The ALARM-D201P10-WE is the wireless motion detector for the HiLook alarm range. It watches a room and tells the panel the moment somebody walks into it. Fitted in a hallway, a landing or the main living space, it is the sensor that catches an intruder who has already got inside, which is why most systems have at least one even if every door and window is covered.
It covers 10 m at a 90° spread, which comfortably takes in a normal room or a hallway end to end. Behind the lens it splits that area into 78 separate detection zones, and it is looking for something moving at walking pace, between 0.3 and 2 m per second. That combination is what lets it pick up a person on their first step rather than waiting for them to cross the room.
The feature most people care about is pet immunity. Set to low sensitivity, it will ignore animals up to 24 kg, which covers the large majority of dogs and every cat. This genuinely matters, because a motion sensor that goes off every time the dog wanders through is a motion sensor that ends up switched off, and an alarm nobody arms is no alarm at all. There are three sensitivity settings, high, auto and low, so you can tune it to the room and to what lives in your house.
False alarms from sunlight and headlights are handled by a 3500 lux white light filter, and the optics are sealed against dust and insects, which are the other classic causes of a sensor crying wolf. Digital signal processing sits behind all of it, filtering out the patterns that are not a person.
It is a fully supervised two-way device, meaning it does not just shout when it sees something. It checks in with the panel regularly, reports its own tamper switch if somebody opens or removes it, and warns you when the batteries are getting low. Two AA cells run it for around two years.
Fitting is a matter of putting it on a wall indoors somewhere between 2 m and 2.4 m up, ideally in a corner looking across the room rather than straight down a hallway. If you need to angle it or put it on a ceiling, wall, ceiling and universal brackets are available separately.
