4K CCTV cameras record at 8 megapixels - four times the resolution of a Full HD 1080P camera, and over sixteen times the resolution of older analogue systems. The biggest practical advantage is the ability to digitally zoom into recorded footage without the image becoming pixelated, making it far easier to identify faces, number plates, and fine details like logos or clothing.
Our 4K camera range covers both IP PoE and HD-TVI analogue formats from Hikvision and HiLook. Night vision types include standard IR, ColourVu full-colour, and Smart Hybrid Light across the range. Hikvision's H.265+ compression also ensures high-resolution footage does not eat through your hard drive space as quickly as you might expect.
4K recording requires a compatible 4K NVR or DVR and sufficient hard drive space. Our CCTV buyers guide covers storage calculations in detail.
Not every camera position needs to be 4K. A common approach is to use 4K cameras on key areas - entrances, car parks, and high-value zones - and lower resolution cameras elsewhere. Browse our IP cameras or analogue cameras for the full range of resolution options.
Browse our IP CCTV systems for matched 4K camera and recorder kits, or build your own system using our 4K NVRs and DVRs. If you are unsure how much storage you need, give us a call on 01902 213 999.
