Step 1 of 3
How many cameras do you need?
We supply kits in 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 16 camera configurations. On 4 camera kits you can upgrade to an 8 channel recorder on the product page, and on 8 camera kits you can upgrade to 16 channels. If you need an odd number, choose the nearest kit and add individual cameras.

Step 2 of 3
What colour cameras do you prefer?
Camera colour has no effect on performance or picture quality - it is purely aesthetic. White cameras blend in on light-coloured buildings. Dark cameras suit modern or commercial premises, or anywhere you want the system to stand out.

Step 3 of 3
What cable are you planning to use?
IP (PoE) systems run on Cat5e or Cat6 - the same network cable used in homes and offices. HDoC systems use traditional coaxial cable with BNC connectors. Not sure which you'll use? Pick "Don't know" and we'll ask one more question to help you decide.

Step 3 of 3
Are any cable runs over 20 metres?
IP (PoE) systems run on Cat5e or Cat6 cable up to 100m per run - ideal for larger properties. HDoC systems use coaxial cable and work best for shorter runs. Measure from your furthest camera position to where the recorder will sit.

Choosing a CCTV System Can Be Tricky

With hundreds of cameras, recorders, and complete kits to choose from, picking the right CCTV system is not always straightforward. Decisions about resolution, cable type, night vision technology, audio, brand, and budget all interact with each other, and getting one of them wrong can mean a system that does not quite fit your property - or worse, having to upgrade or replace components later down the line.

Find My System exists to cut through that. By asking a few short questions about what matters to you, we narrow the full range down to the systems that genuinely match your situation, ranked by how closely they fit. Each result includes the reasons it was picked so you can see at a glance why we are recommending it.

What the Tool Considers

Every matching kit is evaluated against the things that actually affect installation success and footage quality, then scored against your answers:

  • Camera count and channels - matched to the size of kit you need, with notes on upgrading recorders for future expansion
  • Cable type and run length - IP/PoE on Cat5e/Cat6 for longer runs, HDoC coaxial for shorter or existing installations
  • Resolution - from 2MP Full HD up to 12MP for identification-quality detail at distance
  • Night vision technology - infrared, ColorVu full-colour, or Smart Dual Light hybrid systems with up to 100m range
  • Camera colour - white, grey, or black to suit the building, since aesthetics matter even when performance does not change
  • Lens type - fixed for set positions, motorised zoom for adjustable field of view
  • Stock and pricing - in-stock kits ranked first, with a PricePerPixel™ rating to highlight the best detail-per-pound in the lineup

When You Need More Help

This tool is designed for the most common situations. If your installation involves mixing camera types across different positions, integrating with an existing Hikvision system, specifying motorised zoom for long-range coverage, or any other unusual requirement, our buyers guide covers the technical detail in more depth.

You can also contact us if you would rather talk through your requirements with someone who knows the products. We are happy to help work out what fits.
