ColourVu is Hikvision's full-colour night vision technology. Standard IR cameras switch to black and white in low light, losing crucial detail like the colour of a vehicle or a suspect's clothing. ColourVu cameras use a large F1.0 aperture lens to pull in more available light, producing full colour images around the clock regardless of lighting conditions - turning every recording into useful evidence.
ColourVu cameras achieve this using a combination of a large aperture lens and a supplemental warm white light. The white light is visible - you will see a faint glow from the camera at night - but it is low-intensity and not intrusive in most residential and commercial settings. Available in turret and bullet styles from Hikvision and HiLook.
We stock ColourVu and ColourVu Lite models. Both use white light only and provide full colour images 24 hours a day - there is no IR mode. ColourVu Lite uses a less powerful white light supplement, making it a more subtle option for residential use. If you want a camera that uses IR by default and only switches to white light when a person or vehicle is detected, take a look at our Smart Hybrid Light cameras instead. See our CCTV buyers guide or our dedicated night vision guide for more on night vision types.
If you want colour night vision with intelligent switching based on conditions, our Smart Hybrid Light cameras are worth comparing - they offer a similar result with slightly different behaviour in mixed lighting. ColourVu cameras require a compatible NVR for full functionality. All Hikvision and HiLook NVRs in our range are compatible. For a matched system, browse our IP CCTV systems.
