About the ALARM-KF201-WE
The ALARM-KF201-WE is the wireless keyfob for the HiLook alarm range. It arms and disarms the system from your pocket, which sounds minor until you have stood in the rain fumbling for your phone to turn an alarm off. For most households the fob ends up being how the system actually gets used day to day, with the app kept for checking in from elsewhere.
It has four buttons. Two handle arming and disarming, and the other two, marked I and II, can be set up to do whatever suits you. Common choices are a panic button that raises the alarm immediately, or a part arm that covers the downstairs while you are asleep upstairs. Because they are configurable rather than fixed, the fob adapts to how your household lives rather than the other way round.
Range is up to 900 m in the open, so in a real property you can arm the system from the car on the drive or from the far end of the garden without walking back to the panel. Like the rest of the range it uses the 868 MHz band and hops between frequencies to resist jamming, so it cannot be blocked or captured as easily as a cheap remote.
A CR2032 coin cell runs it for around two years, and at 15 g and 11.2 mm thick it sits on a keyring without being a nuisance. The panel supports up to 16 fobs, so everyone in the household can have their own, and the event log records which one was used, meaning you can see who armed or disarmed the system and when.
