The dark housing makes it the natural pick for installs on dark fascias, timber cladding, slate, and heritage frontages where a white camera would stand out, while the specification underneath is identical to the standard model: a 2960 × 1664 sensor, F1.0 optics, dual supplement lighting, and full two-way audio over the coax run.
For installers, the appeal of this camera is how much modern capability it brings to an analogue infrastructure. Sites with existing RG59 or similar coax in the walls can move from tired 1080p imagery to 3K detail, and gain audio at the same time, without pulling a single new cable. TVI output runs at 3K up to 25 fps, with 4MP and 1080p modes available for staged upgrades where the DVR has not yet been replaced. Pair it with a 3K-capable recorder to get the full benefit of the sensor.
Low-light performance is where the ColorVu pedigree shows. The F1.0 aperture gathers roughly four times the light of a typical F2.0 lens, and combined with the 3K sensor it achieves 0.001 lux in colour with AGC on. The Smart Hybrid Light array then covers every deployment preference: constant white light for round-the-clock colour, IR for discreet monitoring where visible light would be intrusive, or smart mode, which patrols under IR and fires the white light when an event is detected, a useful visible deterrent in its own right. A built-in microphone picks up within a 5 m radius, a 2 W speaker projects over the same range, and both channels are carried over the coaxial cable, so two-way conversations can be held from the DVR side without any additional wiring. Echo cancellation, AI noise reduction, and automatic gain control keep speech intelligible even with background noise on site.
