About the HiLook by Hikvision 2 Camera 4MP ColorVu 3.0 Turret IP PoE Kit with 4ch NVR
This 2-camera kit pairs two of HiLook's IPC-T249HAA-LU 4MP ColorVu 3.0 turret cameras with a compact 4-channel NVR, ideal for covering the front and rear of a typical home, a small shopfront, or the entrance and rear yard of a workshop. The headline feature carried over from the cameras is their 0.0005 Lux minimum illumination in colour mode, an exceptional low-light figure made possible by the F1.0 super-aperture lens and the latest ColorVu 3.0 sensor. In real terms, this means usable, true-colour night footage from streetlight, porch light, or even moonlight alone, rather than the grainy black-and-white that most kits at this price point would deliver.
The 4-channel NVR includes 4 built-in PoE ports, so both cameras connect with a single Cat5e/6 run each for power and video. That keeps the install tidy and quick, and leaves two spare ports for future expansion if a third camera or doorbell unit is added later. The recorder supports cameras up to 8MP, so even though the IPC-T249HAA-LU is a 4MP model, you have full headroom to mix in higher-resolution cameras later without swapping the NVR.
Typical install: a front-of-property camera covering the drive, doorway, and pedestrian approach, plus a rear-garden camera covering the back door, side gate, and any garden buildings. The 2.8 mm lens gives wide 95.7° horizontal coverage so two cameras can realistically watch most of an average semi-detached or terraced property. The compact turret form factor sits neatly under soffits, on eaves, or wall-mounted with three-axis adjustment for accurate aiming, and the IP67 housing handles year-round UK weather without issue.
HikAI-ISP is the silent partner to ColorVu 3.0 across every camera in this kit. Pushing a sensor that hard at very low light levels would normally produce noisy, smeared footage, but HikAI-ISP applies real-time AI noise reduction that keeps fine detail intact while cleaning up the grain. Combined with 120 dB Wide Dynamic Range, the cameras handle the harder mixed-lighting scenarios common to UK installs: brightly lit entrances against dark car parks, illuminated signage against unlit pavement, sunlight bouncing off pale paving into a covered loading area.
Smart Hybrid Light gives flexibility on how each camera handles night-time visibility. Three modes are selectable per camera: always-on warm white light for 24/7 colour, traditional IR for low-key black-and-white surveillance to 30 m, or Smart mode where the camera idles in IR and only triggers the white light (and colour image) when human or vehicle motion is detected. Smart mode is genuinely useful where overnight white-light flooding would attract complaints from neighbours, but where the end user still wants evidence-grade colour footage when something actually happens.
Motion Detection 3.0 with human and vehicle classification ties the alerting layer together. Push notifications via the HiLookVision mobile app are filtered to actual people and vehicles rather than every gust of wind through a tree or cat across the lawn, so the system stays trusted by the end user. The NVR includes HDMI and VGA outputs for local monitoring, remote access via mobile app for live view, playback, and event alerts, and ONVIF compliance on the cameras means the kit will also work cleanly with most third-party NVR platforms if needed later.
