About the THC-T227-LTS
The THC-T227-LTS is a 2MP Turbo HD turret camera from HiLook that brings two of the most requested modern CCTV features, colour night vision and two-way audio, to good old fashioned coax. If you have an existing analogue or Turbo HD system and want to upgrade what your cameras can do without rewiring the property, this is exactly the sort of camera to reach for. It runs over standard coaxial cable to a compatible DVR, and cleverly, even the audio travels down that same coax, so there is no extra cabling to think about.
Night performance is handled by Smart Hybrid Light, which gives you the best of both worlds after dark. In infrared mode the camera sees up to 40m in crisp black and white without any visible glow, ideal for keeping a low profile. Switch to white light mode and the built-in warm LEDs illuminate the scene up to 40m for full colour footage all night long, which makes a real difference when you need to describe a car colour or an intruder's clothing to the police. In smart mode the camera stays discreetly on IR until it detects an event, then flicks on the white light, capturing the moment in colour and giving anyone approaching an unmistakable signal that they have been seen.
The audio side is just as practical. A built-in microphone picks up sound within a radius of around 5m, with echo cancellation and AI noise reduction keeping voices clear rather than drowned in wind and traffic rumble. The built-in 2W speaker turns the camera into a two-way intercom point when paired with a compatible DVR, letting you challenge a prowler, wave off a nuisance caller, or talk a courier through where to leave a parcel, all from the app or the DVR itself. For homes, shops, and small yards, hearing what happened is often as valuable as seeing it, and being able to answer back is better still.
Image quality is sharp 1080p at 25fps with digital WDR to balance bright and shaded areas, useful when the camera looks out from under a porch or across a sunlit forecourt. We supply the 2.8mm lens version as standard, giving a wide 105° horizontal field of view that comfortably covers a driveway, garden, or shop floor from a single point. The turret form factor is a favourite of ours for good reason: it is easy to aim precisely thanks to its 360° pan and rotate adjustment, and unlike a dome there is no glass cover to attract IR reflection problems.
Built with a metal main body and rated IP67 against dust and driving rain, the camera shrugs off UK weather year round and operates anywhere from -40°C to 60°C. Power is a simple 12VDC feed at up to 7.5W. In the white finish it sits cleanly on light render, soffits, and ceilings, quietly doing its job while looking the part. For anyone wanting modern features on a sensible analogue budget, the THC-T227-LTS is a very easy camera to recommend.
