The Hikvision DS-7716NI-M4-16P is a 16-channel M Series 8K Network Video Recorder in a 1.5U rack-mount chassis, designed for professional installations that demand the highest levels of storage capacity, video output flexibility and integration capability. While sharing the same 16-channel camera input and M Series processor as the DS-7616NI-M2-16P, the M4 model steps up to four SATA HDD bays plus an eSATA port, dual HDMI outputs (8K and 4K simultaneously), 16 alarm inputs, 9 alarm outputs, RS-232 and RS-485 serial interfaces, and a heavier-duty 1.5U rack chassis - making it the natural choice for system integrators deploying complex, high-storage or multi-display installations.
Sixteen independent 10/100 Mbps PoE interfaces provide plug-and-play camera connectivity with a total budget of 200W (IEEE 802.3af/at). All 16 channels accept IP cameras up to 32MP resolution, with up to 8 channels simultaneously operating at 32MP or 24MP in ultra HD mode. Incoming and outgoing bandwidth is 256 Mbps, fully supporting simultaneous recording and streaming across all channels at maximum resolution. H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 compression are all supported, with H.265+ delivering storage reductions of up to 75% versus H.264, critically important when filling four high-capacity drives.
The dual HDMI output arrangement is a key differentiator. HDMI 1 supports up to 8K (7680 x 4320/30Hz) and operates in simultaneous mode with the VGA output. HDMI 2 provides an independent second display output at up to 4K (3840 x 2160/60Hz), enabling two independent monitors to be driven from a single NVR - ideal for control room installations, reception desks and multi-monitor monitoring stations. Note that when HDMI 1 is set to 8K output, HDMI 2 is limited to 1080p. A CVBS output is also provided for legacy monitor connectivity. The M Series processor delivers the same powerful decoding capability as the M2 model: 2-ch at 32MP plus 2-ch at 8MP simultaneously, or 10-ch at 8MP, 20-ch at 4MP or 40-ch at 1080p, all at 30fps, with 16-channel synchronous playback.
Four SATA interfaces each support a single HDD of up to 16TB, giving a maximum on-board capacity of 64TB - the highest of any 16-channel PoE NVR in the Hikvision M Series range. An additional eSATA port provides external storage expansion. The comprehensive alarm interface supports 16 alarm inputs and 9 alarm outputs, including a controllable 12VDC output for triggering external devices, plus a fixed 12VDC 1A power output. Two RS-485 interfaces and one RS-232 interface enable integration with access control systems, PTZ cameras and third-party devices. Serial connections are complemented by two front-panel USB 2.0 ports and a rear-panel USB 3.0 port.
VCA analytics support motion detection, line crossing, intrusion detection, heat map, ANPR and people counting. POS transaction data can be overlaid on live view and playback, and used to trigger recordings and alarms. TLS stream encryption and double verification for playback and download protect the system against unauthorised access. The unit measures 440 x 389 x 72mm, is rack-mountable in a standard 19-inch rack, weighs under 5kg without drives, and operates from 100-240VAC. It represents the most comprehensively specified 16-channel PoE NVR available in the Hikvision M Series, suited to demanding commercial, industrial and critical infrastructure deployments.
