About the DS-2CD23126G3-IS2UY-SL

The DS-2CD23126G3-IS2UY-SL is the active deterrent version of Hikvision's 12MP AcuSense Pro Series turret. It keeps the 1/1.8" progressive scan CMOS at 4608 × 2592 and the Powered by DarkFighter low light platform, and adds a white strobe light, a built-in smart PA speaker, an arrayed dual-microphone, line in and line out terminals, and one alarm input with one alarm output. Configured as event linkages against AcuSense rules, those outputs turn a passive recording camera into something that responds at the moment of the intrusion.

The sequence in practice is straightforward. A person or vehicle crosses a line or enters a defined region, the deep learning engine classifies the target at the edge, and the camera flashes the strobe, plays a live or pre-recorded audible warning through the speaker, triggers the alarm output and starts recording, all from the same rule. Because classification happens before the linkage fires, the deterrent is not being set off by wind in a hedge, driving rain or a cat on a wall, which is the difference between a system the client keeps armed and one they disable within a fortnight.

Imaging is the 16:9 12MP format at 4608 × 2592, recording at 20 fps on 50 Hz and 25 fps at 4K, 2688 × 1520, 1080p and 720p, with main stream bit rate up to 24 Mbps and H.265+ available to keep storage sensible. The 2.8 mm lens supplied gives a 94.2° horizontal field of view with a depth of field from 2.9 m to infinity and DORI figures of 117 m detect, 46 m observe, 23 m recognise and 11 m identify. Where a scene needs more vertical coverage, the 16MP DS-2CD23166G3-IS2UY-SL uses a 4:3 sensor in the same body with the same deterrent hardware.

Low light capability is rated at 0.0008 lux in colour at F1.6 with AGC on, so the camera stays in colour on ambient site lighting rather than switching to monochrome early. When the scene does go dark, 850 nm infrared reaches up to 30 m with Smart Supplement Light adjusting output to avoid burning out a subject arriving close to the lens. True WDR at 130 dB handles strong backlight, supported by BLC, HLC, 3D DNR, defog and distortion correction, with a shutter range of 1 s to 1/100,000 s, SNR of 52 dB or better, and four programmable polygon privacy masks.

Audio is a complete two-way arrangement. The built-in speaker draws a maximum of 2 W with a maximum sound pressure level of 110 dB measured at 10 cm, and the arrayed dual-microphone includes environment noise filtering. Line in and line out are two-core terminal blocks at a maximum amplitude of 3.3 Vpp, with input impedance of 4.7 KΩ and output impedance of 100 Ω, non-equilibrium, so an external microphone or amplified speaker can be added where a larger area needs covering. Codec support spans G.711, G.722.1, G.726, MP2L2, PCM, MP3 and AAC-LC at sampling rates to 48 kHz. The alarm input and output are rated at a maximum of 24 VDC or 24 VAC at 1 A.

Power is the specification to check first on this model. It requires PoE at IEEE 802.3at Class 4 with a maximum draw of 18 W, or 12 VDC ± 25 percent at 1.34 A through a Ø 5.5 mm coaxial plug with reverse polarity protection, so an 802.3af-only recorder port will not run it. Networking is a single self-adaptive 10M/100M RJ45 supporting up to six simultaneous live view channels, 32 users across three permission levels, ONVIF Profile S, G and T, ISAPI, SDK and ISUP, with security covering 802.1X, TLS 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, HTTPS, IP address filtering, MAC host authentication and a security audit log.

The housing is metal cover and metal body, IP67 rated with NEMA 4X anti-corrosion protection at Hikvision's moderate level, covering coastal sites around 2 km inland and areas affected by acid rain. It measures Ø 138.3 mm × 115.4 mm and weighs approximately 820 g, with three-axis adjustment of 0° to 360° pan, 0° to 75° tilt and 0° to 360° rotation, and an operating range of -30 °C to 60 °C. Edge storage takes microSD, microSDHC or microSDXC up to 512 GB with ANR, alongside NAS recording over NFS or SMB/CIFS and client support across iVMS-4200, HikCentral and Hik-Connect.
